The Educational Assistant serves as a vital partner to certified teachers, dedicated to fostering student growth across academic, social, and physical domains. Based in the Shiprock Area, this position is designed to support educational opportunities for all students, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
In this role, you will work directly under the supervision of the school principal and assigned teachers to facilitate classroom activities. Your day involves guiding independent study, reinforcing material with small groups, and assisting students in various settings. You will also model acceptable social skills for students, teachers, and parents, while responding to the unique needs of every learner. The position may include assisting with personal care responsibilities such as eating, hygiene, and mobility, as well as supporting students during non-instructional activities like recess and field trips.
We value strong relationships within the school community. Educational Assistants are expected to maintain professional relationships with employees, the community, and other professionals. A deep understanding of Diné language, culture, and history is highly preferred, reflecting our commitment to serving the local community with cultural competence and respect.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and hold a New Mexico PED Educational Assistant License Level 3, or be willing to obtain it within the first year of employment. All applicants are required to complete a background check and pass a drug test if required for the position. Successful candidates will also demonstrate knowledge of universal hygiene precautions and compliance with district safety plans.
