Connect for Health Colorado is a public, non-profit entity established by the Colorado General Assembly in 2011 to create a health insurance Marketplace. Since 2013, we’ve been helping individuals, families, and small employers compare plans, apply for financial help, and buy health insurance. As Colorado’s official health insurance marketplace, we are the only place to apply for financial help to lower the monthly cost of premiums. Customers can shop online; get help by phone or online chat from Customer Service Center representatives; and access expert help from a statewide network of certified Brokers and community-based Assisters.

About the Role
As a member of the Architecture team, the AI Developer/Engineer supports the Senior AI Developer/Engineer and partners with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and enhance AI and machine learning capabilities that improve internal operations and staff productivity. This role focuses on delivering incremental improvements, prototypes, and staff-facing tools (including Streamlit-based applications), implementing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns, and integrating solutions with AWS services, Amazon Q (as applicable), and Snowflake (including Cortex where appropriate). The AI Developer/Engineer contributes to secure, responsible, and maintainable AI-enabled applications through documentation, testing, monitoring, and continuous optimization.

Requirements
- verifiedColorado resident
- verified3+ years software engineering or data engineering experience
- verifiedBuilding production Java applications
- verifiedHands-on experience with AI/ML or generative AI (LLMs, embeddings, RAG)
- verifiedExperience building lightweight web apps or APIs using Streamlit, FastAPI/Flask, or similar
- verifiedWorking knowledge of AWS (IAM, S3, logging/monitoring)
- verifiedExperience with PostgreSQL/Aurora/RDS preferred
- verifiedExperience with SQL and data platforms
- verifiedFamiliarity with Snowflake and Snowflake Cortex is a plus
- verifiedFamiliarity with version control (Git), CI/CD, and automated testing
- verifiedUnderstanding of secure software development and handling sensitive data
- verifiedBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
