Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Acoustic Analyst (Level 3 or 4) to support the development and ongoing support of world-class US Navy machinery, including turbines, generators, motors, and other system components. Based in Sunnyvale, CA, you will join a team dedicated to solving complex acoustic challenges.
In this role, you will use classical analysis techniques to establish an understanding of machinery acoustic performance and resolve issues. You will develop component and system-level predictive and simulation models, performing modal, vibration, direct frequency response, and sound transmission analyses to predict performance. A key part of your day involves gathering data from tests, analyzing results, and correlating model predictions to test data to validate approaches.
You will collaborate with cross-functional internal and customer teams, producing technical reports and presentations that summarize findings and recommendations for diverse stakeholders. You will also represent the team in customer-facing presentations. While prior acoustic analysis experience is not required, exposure to Finite Element Modeling is preferred.
The application period for this job is estimated to be 20 days from the posting date, though this timeline may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
