City Year is an AmeriCorps program dedicated to helping students across schools succeed. Our teams of AmeriCorps members provide comprehensive support to students, classrooms, and the entire school community. Our mission is to ensure that students receive a high-quality education that equips them with the skills and mindset necessary to thrive and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
As a Student Success Coach and Mentor, you will serve as a City Year AmeriCorps Member, focusing on coaching and mentoring elementary, middle, and/or high school students. This role is designed for individuals who want to build themselves, give back, and are ready to change the world. You will partner with teachers and school staff to help students earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.
While experience in these specific tasks is not required, you will receive 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to prepare you for service. You will work collaboratively with partner teachers to plan and monitor individual student progress, support whole-class instruction, and create engaging, safe, and healthy classroom environments. Your day-to-day impact will extend beyond the classroom through extended day and virtual programming, including academic enrichment, homework support, recreation, and leadership development.
