The Microsoft Windows Security team is dedicated to securing the Windows client and server operating systems used by billions of customers daily across businesses worldwide. Our mission is to proactively defend against cybersecurity threats by setting the highest possible security standards for OS platforms. We achieve this through rigorous security design reviews, code audits, penetration testing, vulnerability research, and the implementation of systematic mitigations.
This team operates at the intersection of offensive security and engineering, ensuring that Windows remains resilient against evolving attack vectors. The work is hands-on and technically demanding, serving as a central pillar in strengthening the security posture of the world's most widely used operating systems.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleParticipate in security design and code reviews to identify and mitigate risks
- check_circleCollaborate with product engineering teams to improve security posture
- check_circleInteract with the external security community and researchers
- check_circleIdentify vulnerabilities in OS features such as network protocols and security mechanisms
- check_circleServe as the primary security contact for teams building new Windows products
- check_circleDevelop proof-of-concept mitigations and durable defense strategies
- check_circleConduct fuzzing and code audits to uncover security vulnerabilities
Requirements
- verifiedMaster's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in security or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in security or related field OR equivalent experience
- verifiedAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
- verifiedPass Microsoft Cloud background check
Nice to Have
Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field with 4+ years of experience in security or related field, or Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of experience, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience identifying vulnerabilities in operating systems and/or native (C/C++) applications. 5+ years of experience in software engineering or security-related engineering. Demonstrated experience in security research, especially around vulnerability discovery. Experience exploiting bugs and bypassing security mitigations in operating systems. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows architecture.
