About the Role

This Project Engineer position is based at Grand Forks Air Force Base in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The role serves as a critical liaison between the government, contractors, and internal teams to oversee the full lifecycle of federal construction projects. From initial planning and execution to final closeout, the incumbent ensures that all milestones are met while maintaining strict adherence to legal, regulatory, and safety standards.

The day-to-day involves managing complex project plans, schedules, and budgets while serving as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders. You will coordinate closely with architects, engineers, and contractors, reviewing technical submittals, shop drawings, and progress schedules. A significant portion of the role focuses on quality control, conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure work meets specifications. You will also prepare detailed correspondence regarding contractor performance, Requests for Information (RFIs), and Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs), while providing guidance and mentoring to team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • check_circleOversee all aspects of construction projects from planning to execution and closeout

  • check_circleIdentify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure regulatory compliance
  • check_circleImplement quality control measures and conduct regular inspections and audits
  • check_circlePrepare partial and final payment estimates including measurement and computation of pay items
  • check_circleProduce monthly project reports displaying project status and updates for customers
  • check_circleReview and analyze contractor plans, technical submittals, and shop drawings for approval
  • check_circleMonitor scheduled progress of construction activities and advise the project team of potential delays
  • check_circleCoordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure project milestones are met
  • check_circlePrepare correspondence regarding contractor performance, REAs, RFIs, and technical issues
  • check_circleParticipate in the contract modification process and assist in preparing scopes of work for RFPs

Requirements
