Job Title: Bookstore Associate Department: Student Services Reports To: Bookstore Coordinator Job Classification: Non-Exempt, Part-time Location: Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls Rate of Pay: $12.00 per hour Schedule: 19 hours a week Summary: The purpose of this position is to conduct operations of the bookstore/student store and to perform tasks and projects of a bookkeeping, clerical, and/or administrative nature. Some exposure to confidential materials. Part-time position not to exceed 19 hours per week. Job Duties: Assists in processing student payments, including cash, checks, credit cards, and financial aid charges; enters bookstore charges onto student account using college’s integrated software system; assists in semester book buy-backs. Responds to student, parent, and other employee questions relating to prices, book requirements, payment options, and bookstore policies and procedures. Processes correspondence and maintains files. Coordinates with faculty to maintain text and materials for classroom use. Processes orders, pricing, shelving, and returning books, supplies, and clothing merchandise. Maintains displays and overall bookstore and merchandise organization. Attends informational meetings pertaining to the success of the bookstore/student store as required; participates at major college events to include homecoming, family day, and home athletic events. Education and Experience: Completion of High school/GED and 3 years of experience required. Experience can be substituted for education. Education can be substituted for experience. Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to use good phone etiquette. Proficient at using the telephone system, messaging, and general switchboard operations. Ability to provide exceptional customer service skills. Knowledge of IVCCD processes and procedures, and the ability to comply. Ability to multi-task efficiently and in a timely manner. Ability to exercise good judgment and use critical thinking skills. Ability to work in an environment of shifting priorities and frequent interruptions. Knowledge of computer software programs to include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Knowledge of and ability to work in computer systems designed for registrations and student records. Knowledge of office machines, such as copiers, printers, and fax machines. Ability to handle moderately to highly confidential matters and materials with discretion. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Financial Authority: Handle cash transactions; prepare and process purchase orders. J-18808-Ljbffr
