The Midwife will be responsible for: Assume management responsibility of a caseload of obstetrical and gynecological patients selected. Provides prenatal care to patients which includes physical assessment, patient education, nursing care and management of problems in accordance with approved nurse midwifery guidelines. Collaborates with the health care team in planning and implementing care for obstetrical and gynecological patients. The individual in this position must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development with newborn, adolescent and adult patient population. Provides patient care in Antepartum and deliveries. Education: Graduate of an approved program of Midwifery. Masters Degree required. Doctorate Degree preferred. Experience: Experience working in health centers and with diverse populations required. 3 years Midwifery experience preferred. Licensure: Authorization to practice as registered nurse in Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Current certification by American Midwifery Certification Board. Authorization to practice in the expanded role in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Registration to issue controlled substances with U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Registration to issue controlled substances with Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Other: Membership in professional organizations is recommended and certification in a specialty area is encouraged. To qualify you must have: Education: Graduate of an approved program of Midwifery. Masters Degree required. Doctorate Degree preferred.
