Job Title: Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) Region: Western USA Reporting To: Corporate Safety, and Project Managers Responsible For: Overseeing the safety of employees and equipment on various construction sites. Also responsible for ensuring program management and required administrative reports are completed per Federal, State, and HHI Corporation. Job Purpose: To ensure safety on site and compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and company safety policies. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct site walks and inspections to identify and rectify hazards or safety violations. Create and enforce safety plans outlining the scope and mandated requirements while operating on the site. Be the safety representative on site for the Owner working with the PM and Superintendent to ensure a safe working environment. Relay on site conditions and concerns to the corporate safety office. Teach or facilitate training in various areas that are required for each project. Conduct mishap investigations and reporting procedures to HHI and government entities. Prepare and report any plans or documentation required for each site. Research, interpret, and implement various regulations and requirements. Identify hazards and find innovative solutions while not negatively impacting operations. Lead onsite job trainings as needed and hold daily Activity Hazard Analysis meetings. Willing to travel out of state for the duration of the project. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Must be able to work with government and non-government personnel in a professional and clear manner. Be able to work with different trades and construction focuses to ensure a safe environment without limiting the trades ability to complete work. Must be able to properly communicate over the phone and in writing to upper management to include Subcontractors, Suppliers, Onsite Staff, Owners, PM’s, Superintendents, and Corporate Safety Director. Qualifications OSHA 30 (or be able to complete within 1 month of hiring) Knowledge in the following areas: Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Scaffolding, and HEC Computer skills in Microsoft Office and online databases Must pass government security clearance standards Must pass pre-employment drug screen test if hired Good driving record, valid license - insurable through the company Be able to stand for several hours at a time Not afraid of heights Be able to work both indoors and outdoors Can clearly communicate in person, written, and electronically Minimum 5 years of safety experience Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Willing to travel Preferred Understanding of RMS or experience working with the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) USACE 40-hour course Various safety competent persons certifications (Fall Protection, Excavation, etc.) Experience working on a construction site J-18808-Ljbffr
