Quad is currently seeking a Second Shift Offset Sheetfed Platemaker at its Spartanburg plant. The offset plate maker is responsible for overseeing the plate-making process, including but not limited to, generating impositions from single-page files, creating plates, troubleshooting issues, inspecting for quality, and working with internal customers to support the printing process. The second shift schedule is 2 pm - 10 pm (M- F) - including overtime as needed. There is a $1.50 shift premium. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Confirm accuracy and completeness of job orders and the maintenance of the production process to ensure that the design will successfully and cost-effectively meet the customers' job orders. Build computer to plate CTP layout. Print plate layout to paper, compare to customer-approved proof and pre-press proofs to verify accuracy and any defects. Protect client products and aid Quad in securing and maintaining key industry certifications through consistent adherence to quality, satisfaction, and excellence standards represented by AIB International, cGMP, FSC Chain of custody, ISO, and SFI Chain-of-Custody certifications. Internal Plate and External Plate Suppliers Responsibilities. Perform maintenance, clean plate maker, replenish chemical solutions, and perform change-over steps. Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Cross-train as assigned. Know and follow Standard Operating Procedures. Follow all safety policies and procedures. All Packaging employees must: Follow and comply with all food safety and quality policies. Report any food safety issues or concerns to the Site Leadership Team. Maintain production records following Good Documentation Practices. Knowledge, Skills&Abilities: Have basic knowledge of Windows PC. Must be able to set up and maintain the automated platemaker. Have strong math skills, and good verbal and written communication. Be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Knowledge of press operations is a plus. Familiar with paperboard carton production and processing is a plus. Understand input, output, raw material, waste, quality control, cost, and techniques for maximizing the manufacture and distribution of goods process. Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools, and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine the root cause. Ability to lift 10-15 pounds continuously, ability to lift to 50 pounds occasionally, sitting and standing for long hours (8-hour shift), use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement, receive and follow instructions, and use vision to identify defects.
