A postdoctoral position is available in the department of Translational Molecular Pathology. This research program is focused on identifying context-specific druggable vulnerabilities required for oncogenic signaling and function, with a specific interest in surface proteins. We aim to gain deep molecular insights into the complicated array of oncogene-dependent and independent events driving tumor progression to discover novel therapeutic approaches that target mechanisms essential for cancer cell survival. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Apply an in-house unbiased integrated target-discovery platform to identify novel therapeutic susceptibilities for pancreatic cancer and its environment. Dissect the detailed molecular mechanisms by which the identified novel targets regulate cancer cells and immune cells. Determine the cancer preventive impact of the genetic and pharmacological interruption of pro-cancerous events, Kras signaling and inflammation, on pancreatic cancer development and maintenance. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS An individual holding a recent (within three years) Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.) in an appropriate field who is seeking a temporary appointment, under the supervision of a faculty mentor, involving full-time laboratory-based research or scholarship in preparation for an academic or research career as an independent investigator. This appointment is not part of a clinical training program; individuals holding an M.D. degree or equivalent are not permitted to engage in patient care activity.
