Title: Post Doctoral Research Associate Department: Chemistry and Environmental Science Reports To: Assistant Professor Chemistry and Environmental Science Position Type: Staff Position Summary: The interdisciplinary PhytoChemical-Ecology Lab of the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is looking for a proactive and independent Postdoctoral Research Associate. We are seeking a postdoctoral candidate to explore the signaling and biosynthesis pathways of small molecules in non-seed plants. The ideal candidate will bring skills that complement the current expertise of the lab and will contribute to ongoing projects. Candidates with a strong background in bioinformatics and/or plant molecular biology are especially encouraged to apply. Essential Functions: The candidate will work independently, under the guidance of, and in conjunction with, the Principal Investigator in accomplishing both laboratory and personal goals. The postdoctoral research assistant will design and execute experiments, interpret results, write and contribute to manuscripts/grants/abstracts, present at conferences, receive mentorship from the PI, provide mentorship to lab members, and be a part of an inclusive environment that supports creativity, professional development, and scientific discovery. Additional Functions: Assisting the PI in writing grants and reports. Preparing high-quality peer-reviewed articles under the direction of the PI. Supervising undergraduate and graduate students. Prerequisite Qualifications: Proactive and independent researcher with strong motivation to pursue interdisciplinary research. Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a relevant scientific discipline. Track record of peer-reviewed publications and the ability to work independently and as a team. At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
