PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Kinder Club Coordinator is responsible for providing daily programs, services and activities for Kinder Club members that are consistent with the BGCNLT’s youth development mission and goals. KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Establish a program setting that ensures the health and safety of members Contribute to the creation of the overall Club’s climate for youth development Plan&implement daily programs/activities Provide mentorship for members Manage necessary administrative functions and assigned resources Promote and market programs to the members PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT Structured Kinder Club programs and activities at The Boys&Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe involve. Daily structured large group, small group, and self-guided activities for youth ages 5-6 years old. Structured Kinder program that encompasses all five Boys&Girls Club core program areas. Planned daily activities geared towards Kindergarten One specialized program per month (local or national) One special instructional class per week Opportunities for free play daily Development and implementation of at least one Kinder Club specific member recognition program. Weekly opportunities for Kinder Club members to experience other program areas within the club. Daily Kinder Club pick-up from kindergarten hallway Daily member attendance tracking Kinder Club Staff will use the Boys&Girls Clubs Youth Development Strategy in planning all programs and activities, enhancing the potential for Club members to develop a sense of competence, belonging, usefulness, and influence. Leadership Work with YDP’s in establishing Kinder Club programs, activities and services that prepare kinders for success in the areas of: academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character&citizenship . Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring kinder club facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained. Strategic Planning Plan, develop and evaluate Kinder Club programs and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation. Resource Management Ensure operational systems are in place to maintain the daily operations of the Kinderclub space and equipment of the Club, including use of other club resources and facilities. Ensure compliance with organization policies. Support kinderclub assistants through effective communication, program planning support, and ensure kinderclub staff have the resources necessary to be successful. Partnership Development Develop partnerships with parents, kindergarten teachers, community leaders and outside organizations. Marketing and Public Relations Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community. Provide quarterly programs to Clubhouse Manager for distribution to club families Additional Responsibilities: Purchase or approve purchases of supplies and equipment Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments. Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan. May oversee special programs or events (i.e. Harvest Festival, Family Nights, Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other club activities as necessary. May be required to drive the club van. Relationships: Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer) to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Has regular contact with parents and members as needed for discipline, advise and counsel. External: Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, member's parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize the club. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Four year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience. A minimum of five years work experience in a Boys&Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, specifically pre-k or kindergarten or equivalent experience. Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff. Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems. Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management. Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to move freely about the club environment to supervise and monitor activities of staff and members, maintaining a safe environment for all. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Regularly required to use hands and fingers, feel, talk and hear. May be required to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
