Morgan, Lewis&Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms, with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking a Competitive Intelligence Research Analyst to support desktop/laptop computer systems of a moderate to complex nature to ensure end-user productivity and efficiency. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence, the Competitive Intelligence Research Analyst interacts with a local and virtual team of colleagues and uses an extensive collection of internal and external resources to gather, filter, synthesize, organize, package, and deliver business and competitive intelligence information necessary to support firm-wide business and client development. This position will reside in either our Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, or Seattle office and offers a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Primary Functions and Responsibilities: Research Performs in-depth research using Lexis Advance, Westlaw Precision, Bloomberg Law, S&P Capital IQ, Merger Market, Lex Machina or other sources. Analyzes external data as it relates to current and potential clients, industries, and practices. Identifies potential areas of cross-selling and promotional opportunities in providing legal services to new and existing clients/markets. Participates in research projects in response to lawyer needs, conducts research to support client pitches and provides needed information for responding to RFPs. Monitors legal industry trends such as economic, political and regulatory trends impacting the legal community, and their relevance to Firm initiatives. Presentation/Products Uses tools and technology to gather and disseminate CI deliverables. Creates and distributes a variety of CI products - analytical reports with Lateral Profiles, biographical summaries of key executives, client and company profiles, competitive benchmarking, and market and industry reports. Uses databases, TeamSite wiki pages, etc. to share resources and to communicate with team members. Upholds and promotes CI industry ethical standards. Experience/Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a research-focused role in a law firm or other professional services environment, including experience researching and analyzing litigation, intellectual property prosecution, transactions, companies, industries, and markets. Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Advanced skills using research tools such as Lexis Advance, Nexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, S&P Capital IQ, Merger Market, Lex Machina, and PitchBook. Must demonstrate project management skills, strong customer service skills, planning/organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication, be a self-starter, have the ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands and to interact with all levels of management and departments.
