How you Will Power our Purpose (Job Summary) We're looking for enthusiastic, creative, and caring Afterschool Counselors to inspire a love of learning in young minds and build memorable experiences at our afterschool programs this Fall and beyond If you have an open afternoon schedule, would like to work up to 20 hours per week, and have weekends off, this is the perfect job for you. Afterschool Counselors lead various activities that aim to give children a well-rounded experience. This includes physical activities, social-emotional learning, and much more You will supervise a group of students at one of our Kyle/Buda area schools Are you passionate about shaping the future of young minds? As an Afterschool Counselor, you’ll play a vital role in nurturing and guiding children ages 4-12 during afterschool hours. Here’s how you can make a meaningful impact: Lead and Inspire : Supervise a dynamic group of up to 17 young learners, creating engaging schedules and activities that foster their growth and development. Safety First : Ensure the safety and well-being of children on site by adhering to Texas Childcare directives and promoting a secure environment. Teach Positive Behaviors : Instill essential life skills and positive behaviors, offering guidance and support as they navigate their school assignments. Engage Through Play : Organize and lead fun, educational play activities, games, sports, and creative projects in arts, sciences, and math that spark curiosity and creativity. Follow Curriculum : Implement lesson plans filled with both educational and recreational activities, ensuring an enriching experience for every child. Snack Time Supervision : Distribute healthy snacks while following sanitation, USDA, and CCR guidelines. Champion Safety Standards : Uphold safety and security protocols for children and visitors alike. Embody Our Values : Promote the YMCA's character values and mission, becoming a role model in our community. Additional Duties : Be ready to take on other responsibilities as assigned to support our mission. What You Bring to Our Community: Availability : Open afternoon availability M-F from 2 PM-6:30 PM is required . Education : High School diploma or GED equivalent required; experience in childhood development is a plus. Experience : Minimum age of 18 years; prior experience working with young children preferred. Team Player : You thrive in collaborative environments, showcasing a positive, service-oriented attitude. Organizational Skills : You’re organized and productive, able to prioritize tasks effectively.
