Northwest Pipe Fittings, a locally owned, independent wholesale distributor, is seeking a dedicated Accounting Assistant to join our team in Rapid City. We are committed to providing exceptional service, product expertise, and inventory management across a five-state region. Our company distributes a wide range of products, including plumbing, hydronic heating, utility, waterworks, water well, irrigation, filtration, and metering technology products and systems. As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our accounting operations by handling accounts payable and receivable tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions. Responsibilities Perform data entry associated with accounts payable and other account functions. Accurately review, code, and process vendor invoices, ensuring all invoices are paid as per vendor terms. Process check requests on a regular basis. Perform monthly reconciliations of vendor statements. Assist in month-end reporting. Oversee the daily bank deposit and petty cash as needed for the Rapid City location. Address and respond to vendor inquiries regarding billing in a timely manner. Answer telephone calls as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. 2 years of related experience preferred. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures. Familiarity with Microsoft Office. Experience with Microsoft GP or similar accounting software (preferred). Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Friendly and positive attitude. Ability to work collaboratively with all company locations. Physical Requirements Able to lift up to 20 pounds. This is a primarily sedentary role.
