Founded in 1894, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House is a premier settlement house on the East Side of Manhattan, dedicated to improving the lives of 16,000 individuals annually. We provide an integrated array of social, educational, health, housing, and mental health services to a diverse population ranging from children to older adults, including those who are unhoused, disabled, or seeking adult education.
Located within the historic Park Avenue Armory on the Upper East Side, our Women's Mental Health Shelter is a 24-hour program designed to support 80 homeless women, ages 45 and over, who face histories of mental illness. Through a comprehensive continuum of care, our multi-disciplinary team—including social workers, clinicians, nurses, and peer advocates—works to transition clients from homelessness to permanent housing. The program offers medical and psychiatric care, specialized peer support, housing placement, benefits assistance, and arts and nutrition programs.
As a Social Worker, you will be an integral member of the Women's Mental Health Shelter team, dedicated to helping clients achieve long-term mental health stability and secure housing. Reporting to the Clinical Director, you will collaborate closely with the Senior Program Director, Housing Specialist, and the broader Clinical and Operational Team. Your work will be grounded in a social justice lens, focusing on person-centered, trauma-informed support to help clients optimize their wellness.
You will serve as a vital link for clients navigating complex behavioral health needs, providing crisis intervention, case management, and housing counseling. This role requires a deep commitment to community-based human services and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, 24/7 environment to ensure clients receive timely assessments and continuous care.
At Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, we value respect, integrity, and diversity. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to affording equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability status, or veteran status. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type and conform to all applicable laws and regulations.
All individuals are required to undergo a pre-employment background check as a condition of employment. Certain positions may require more extensive checks to comply with applicable laws. Additionally, as an essential community-serving organization, all new employees must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (except where valid medical exemptions apply) and submit proof prior to onboarding to ensure the safety of our clients and colleagues.
