As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department operates smoothly and safely. Under direct supervision, you assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company regulations. Your work is essential to delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, ensuring that patients and customers receive accurate care and support every time they visit.
Your day involves a blend of clinical support, operational precision, and customer engagement. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and verify medication details to ensure safety and accuracy. If you hold PTCB certification, you will also have the opportunity to coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations.
Beyond the counter, you will engage directly with customers by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving issues to foster strong relationships with our most valuable customers. You will handle telephone inquiries, process manual claims for third-party programs, and support inventory management activities, including ordering and storing pharmaceuticals. Additionally, you may assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting blood or urine samples, and help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
To join our team, candidates must hold PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico) and possess at least one year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluency in English is required, and candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. New hires are also required to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of employment, unless covered by a collective bargaining agreement or working in specific pharmacy locations.
