This part-time maintenance position supports the Bargersville Parks and Recreation properties by performing essential custodial, groundskeeping, and general maintenance tasks. The role is vital for preparing facilities and grounds for public use, scheduled events, and seasonal activities.
Hours vary significantly depending on the season, events, and rentals. Winter schedules are primarily weekend-based, focusing on rental needs, typically totaling 10 hours or less.
You will serve as the first line of defense in maintaining the safety and cleanliness of our parks. Your day may involve routine cleaning and restocking of public spaces, sanitizing restrooms, and replenishing supplies. You will monitor outdoor recreational areas, including picnic shelters, trails, and playgrounds, to ensure they are free of waste and debris.
A significant portion of the role involves preparing for and wrapping up events. This includes setting up and tearing down tables and chairs, mopping floors, and moving picnic tables. You will also inspect facilities after events to assess their general condition.
On the groundskeeping side, you will clear access areas on trails, paths, and parking lots, as well as remove weeds and brush. You will operate park maintenance vehicles and equipment, such as trucks and UTVs, and utilize various hand tools like blowers, mowers, and hedge trimmers. Throughout your shift, you will monitor the proper function of displays, lights, locks, and plumbing, while ensuring a safe work environment for employees, volunteers, and the public.
