Wagstaff manufactures equipment for aluminum producers, who process formed aluminum into parts and products you use every day. As an employee of Wagstaff, you will enjoy a supportive culture featuring paid non-working holidays, monthly site-wide BBQs, family-friendly company-wide events, and access to a 1200 Sqft onsite gym available 24/7. The company also offers an annual bonus program and up to 8% retirement contribution.
This position applies engineering knowledge to the unique technical circumstances at each customer location. You will evaluate customer sites, read and analyze data to develop recommendations for the optimal utilization of Wagstaff-supplied equipment, and become a subject matter expert on Wagstaff Casting Systems and the DC casting process (Billet or ingot). The role involves overseeing pre-sales technical site evaluations, installations, start-ups, and troubleshooting. You will provide advice, guidance, and training to customers and Technical Service personnel regarding equipment installation, operation, and the optimization of cast house operations unique to each installation.
You will read and interpret molten metal quality data to improve casting equipment and processes, manage equipment installations to ensure specifications are met, and perform post-installation courtesy visits to review casting processes and advise customers on achieving improved quality and yields. Additionally, you will draft or review technical papers for publication, participate in research activities related to aluminum casting technologies, and assist in creating technical bulletins, procedures, and manuals. Substantial and extended international and domestic travel is required to meet customer and company business needs.
While performing duties on Wagstaff premises, work is primarily conducted in a climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise levels. However, this role requires frequent interaction with the manufacturing shop floor, where you may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks associated with moving equipment. Coordination with shop floor managers is necessary before entry, and appropriate personal protective equipment is required. Similarly, travel to customer sites may expose you to similar manufacturing and construction environment risks, requiring coordination with customer managers and the use of job-appropriate safety gear.
