AECOM is seeking an experienced Geologist for our Billings, Montana office to support a diverse portfolio of environmental projects. This role bridges field operations and office analysis, focusing on data management, site investigations, and remediation efforts. The successful candidate will gather and analyze geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data, ensuring rigorous standards across both field and office environments.
Day-to-day activities involve a dynamic mix of fieldwork and technical reporting. Field responsibilities include collecting samples of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil vapor, as well as performing geological logging and interpretation. You will also oversee subcontractors, including laboratories and drilling companies. In the office, you will prepare investigation reports, develop clear and defensible Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) for complex sites, and provide mentorship and support to junior to mid-level staff.
This position requires active participation in technical planning, including numerical analysis, cost estimation, and quality control. You will contribute to the development of work plans and technical deliverables under CERCLA, RCRA, and state jurisdictions, while resolving conflicting technical information and adapting standard procedures to unique site challenges. Occasional overnight travel is required to support project needs.
