A Digital Court Reporter serves as the technical and procedural backbone of legal depositions, ensuring that testimony is captured with precision via audio and video. This role is essential for attorneys who require a verbatim record of proceedings, combining technical expertise in A/V equipment with a deep understanding of legal protocols.
In this position, you will be present in depositions to manage the entire recording process. Your day involves setting up professional audio and video equipment in diverse and often changing environments, from courtrooms to remote locations. You will be responsible for positioning microphones for optimal capture, mixing multiple audio tracks to prevent interference, and adjusting video framing and exposure to meet legal videography standards.
Beyond the technical setup, you act as a neutral observer and recorder. You will swear in deponents, capture their spoken testimony under oath, and maintain a detailed log of speaker identification, keywords, objections, and the introduction of exhibits. This role requires a calm, professional demeanor and the ability to adapt to unexpected circumstances while working a schedule that may extend beyond standard hours.
