This position is ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings. NEXT CLASS: 02/10/2025 - 03/10/2025 Monday - Friday 8am-2:45pm NTCIND Job Summary: The Trainee, Nurse Technician, within the scope of their practice, is taught to provide patient care under the supervision and direction of a state licensed Nurse by implementing and utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and procedures for the purpose of increasing patient functional status. This is a three (3) week training role which includes classroom instruction and guided hands-on clinical experience. Upon successful completion of the training course, the incumbent transfers into the Nurse Technician job. Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association must be obtained during this training course. Work Experience: None. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrates skills and knowledge appropriate to the patient population. Proven oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Effective critical thinking skills and the ability to follow directions. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to be detail oriented as required in the documentation of numerical data. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Trained to provide patient care to an assigned group of patients; to perform procedural tasks and assist with activities of daily living (ADL) taking into consideration the patient’s age and cultural and psychosocial factors. Taught to observe and report the patient’s condition, activities, and needs to a licensed Nurse accurately and in a timely manner. Records treatments and procedures performed legibly and accurately and shown how to document data according to unit and hospital policies and State of Oklahoma regulations. Follows HIPAA policies to maintain the privacy and security of patient information. Documents intake and output measurements (I&O’s), vital signs, and other patient information correctly and timely. Transports patients, specimens, food, supplies, and equipment. Performs environmental activities to maintain a clean and orderly setting, performing housekeeping duties, as needed. Decision Making: Independent judgement in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established. Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Special Job Dimensions: None.
