Lourie Center - Rockville The Lourie Center School seeks to hire a Teacher's Assistant who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. The Lourie Center for Children's Social&Emotional Wellness is a private, non-profit agency with a mission to improve the social and emotional health of young children and their families through prevention, early intervention, education, research and training. As the Teacher's Assistant, you will: Provide instructional support to the assigned child with the goal of increasing the child's level of independence. Assist the teacher and the interdisciplinary team in the formulation and implementation of therapeutic and behavior management strategies for this child in the program. Assist the teacher in development of Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Plan for assigned child. Be available to physically restrain child in instances of imminent danger to self or others. Read the child’s reports and Individualized Education Program (IEP). Qualifications Include: High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in education, child development, psychology or related discipline preferred. Basic knowledge of child development is required. Minimum of one year work experience with special needs children (i.e. school, camp, counselor, childcare work, college practicum experiences, etc). Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Pay Range: $17.37 - $23.48 In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount or if the position is Per Diem (offering a fixed rate), salary discussions will occur during the screening process.
