BE PART OF THE CONNECTION A new System Engineer IV position is required to support key technical areas within the Video team, including High Split, Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) buildout and support, Video Operations Compliance and Performance, and Cybersecurity. This role is critical for sustaining, configuring, and troubleshooting video systems in the lab environment, which mirrors production settings. The engineer will act as a subject matter expert on configuring and optimizing all video system hardware and software. They will be responsible for the continuous upgrade, maintenance, and modification of video infrastructure to adapt to network changes, architectural shifts, and the implementation of new video features. The goal is to ensure the lab environment remains aligned with production needs while maintaining high availability and performance standards. In this role, the System Engineer IV will lead engineering efforts to enhance video and signal processing hardware, software, and electrical systems, ensuring smooth delivery of QAM and IP video for lab tenants. Their work will include advanced configuration and support of video equipment such as VOD controllers, multiplexers, digital transport, and edge QAM, along with troubleshooting and designing system solutions to support tenant testing, proofs of concept, and root cause analysis. The position also entails close collaboration with engineering and field teams for the implementation of network projects, standardization efforts, and vendor-related issue resolution. The engineer will be responsible for diagnosing technical issues, developing solutions for increased efficiency, and supporting the development and refinement of problem resolution procedures. Moreover, the role will function as a lead, providing technical guidance and assistance to support teams across the organization, enhancing collaboration and technical competencies. WHAT OUR SYSTEM ENGINEER IV, ENJOY MOST Design, deploy, manage, and ensure stability of the application and platform ecosystem and related back-office infrastructure and data centers to provide network security, high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability to effectively and efficiently support mission critical business systems. Demonstrate a high level of competence in IT operations, application monitoring, deployment and configuration management, availability and performance optimization, capacity management and forecasting, cloud computing, datacenter operations troubleshooting critical issues, and coordination of implementation. Represent the Engineering Department working closely with Architects and Engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologies. Become a trusted partner of engineering team through the delivery of excellent customer service and knowledge that will allow our business to grow. Troubleshoot and resolve major APO and system issues. Assist and lead efforts for design, redesign, and operational efficiencies as business objective and strategies evolve. Document project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed with highest level of quality on time and within budget. Mentor and train other Engineering personnel in key elements of networking systems and provide technical presentations to instruct co-workers and other production services support individuals. Research and identify technology opportunities and application to the business. Test and validate all new hardware and software for proper configuration and performance. Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable. Knows, understands, and follows company policy. Perform other duties as requested by supervisor. WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM Required Qualifications Experience: System or Server Administration - 6 Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience; May require Industry Standard Certifications Technical skills: Systems knowledge (Linux, Unix) Infrastructure knowledge (Raw Iron, Steel Cloud, ElasticCloud, OpenStack, AWS) In-depth knowledge in areas of specialty for specific applications, and general knowledge of supporting or integrating applications creating platform ecosystems. Basic Knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations. Expert knowledge of software designing software, such as Visio Knowledge of Microsoft Office General knowledge of OSI stack and application architectures Abilities:Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to use personal computer and software applications. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly. Ability to use the following office equipment telephone, copier, fax, and calculator. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
