About this role Carrier Commercial HVAC Engineering is looking for a versatile Senior Manager to manage the Charlotte Laboratories (Lab) focusing on Chillers (Water Cooled lab, Air Cooled Lab, and Customer Witness Testing lab) and to lead the team of laboratory experts. The Senior Manager - Engineering Laboratory will work onsite in Charlotte . Key Responsibilities Manage Laboratory Employees: Hire, train, and supervise the laboratory team to ensure efficient and accurate work. Ensure Safety and Compliance: Implement and maintain safety protocols and compliance with regulatory standards. Budget and Resource Management: Manage the laboratory's budget, order supplies, and maintain equipment. Project Management: Coordinate and manage laboratory projects, i.e., timelines and deliverables. Schedule Tests and Provide Updates: Maintain a testing dashboard to show the status of units in the lab and the tentative schedule of tests requested. Plan and Schedule Workflow: Coordinate and manage staffing allocation to support the completion of tasks as committed. Preventive maintenance schedule: Maintain a matrix of lab equipment installation date, service life, and maintenance schedule. Develop and maintain tools to alert of upcoming maintenance. Quality Control: Ensure that laboratory processes and results meet quality standards. Data Management: Oversee the recording, analysis, and reporting of laboratory data. Continuous Improvement: Define and track KPIs (downtime, setup time, unit waiting for test, etc.) for the lab and execute continuous improvement projects. Customer witness testing and feedback: Coordinate and collaborate with marketing and production to schedule customer testing and provide feedback with a positive outlook. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering 3 years of laboratory experience, with precise measurement systems (electrical, temperature, pressure, and flow measurements) or large commercial equipment 2 years of experience in leading teams Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering mechanical, chemical, electrical and industrial Familiarity with large commercial equipment, 3-phase voltages up to 11kV, transformers, starters, and variable Frequency Drives Experience with hydronic systems, including pumps, actuated valves, flow meters, boilers, cooling towers English communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills Experience in HVAC Additional information: This position doesn’t support immigration sponsorship.
