Position: Long-Term Substitute Special Education/ Specialized Reading Teacher Location: McCarthy Middle School The successful candidate will assume the role and responsibilities of a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher for a temporary assignment from April 25, 2024 through June 21, 2024. Dates subject to change. General Description: Provide special education instruction for students in a co-taught setting and provide academic support outside of the classroom setting. Work collaboratively with other teachers and administration to meet student needs. Edith McCarthy Middle School is one of two middle schools in Chelmsford, providing education for about 940 students from grades 7-8. Job Requirements Successful candidates will hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree in special education from an accredited college or university. MA DESE Teaching License: PreK-8 or 5-12 Moderate Special Needs license. Training and experience with specialized reading programs preferred. Experience in modifying and adapting curriculum to ensure students can access the curriculum. Ability to effectively consult and work collaboratively with various service providers and support staff. Solid organizational skills. Experience with IEP development. Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
