Provide comprehensive health care and services in a team oriented primary care setting with responsibility for examination, referral and treatment of patients. The Senior Associate Physician is responsible for setting the clinical standard for delivery of optimal patient care services within the clinical units according to accepted standards within the field of Medicine. He/she will serve as leaders and role models for the other clinicians in the clinical units as well as liaisons between the office of the Medical Director and the staff clinicians. As Clinical Leader, he/she is responsible for ensuring compliance of the clinicians under their supervision with pre-determined Clinical Outcome Measures on a quarterly basis. _RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES_: Abide by the responsibilities and duties and qualifications outlined for the physician in their respective disciplines. Work in collaboration with the Medical Director to update and review the Policy and Procedure Manual for their Medical Unit. Enforce completion of chart review for pre-determined Clinical Outcome Measures by the clinicians under their supervision. Work in collaboration with the Medical Director to ensure that all Clinicians participate in the Peer Review Process and complete the evaluation in a timely manner. In collaboration with the Unit Nurse Supervisor, direct activities of the nurses, patient care associates and patient service representative in the unit. Ensure adequate clinician scheduling. Participate in the Quality&Performance Committee and other collaborative activities as needed. Provide reports to the Quality&Performance Committee twice a year. Participates in Joint Commission planning and operational activities including design and execution of performance improvement projects and involvement in Joint Commission survey preparation activities. In collaboration with Unit Nurse Supervisor, chair monthly Unit Meeting and convey information related to Joint Commission and other organizational priorities to Medical Staff. Attend monthly Lead Clinician Meeting and provide a brief monthly report to the Medical Director ‘s office highlight activities within the unit. Provide an annual power point presentation outlining activities, goals, objectives, challenges and successes for the department. Participates in Clinical-on-call schedule with other Clinicians. Attends or represents BMS at other meetings on and off-site as needed. In collaboration with Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager, chair the Dr. Blue Team and coordinate Dr. Blue drills at regular intervals. Complete Performance Appraisals and Competency Evaluations for clinicians under his/her supervision on an annual basis and as needed. Supervise the mid-level practitioners’ review and co-sign charts for Physicians Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinical staff as necessary. Requirements: Current license to practice medicine in New York State. Completed accredited training in an institution approved for post-graduate training. Clinical and administrative experience in a family or community health center, or ambulatory care center required.
