Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained in accordance with established protocols. The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial part in patient safety and infection control within the healthcare environment. Responsibilities Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment following strict aseptic techniques. Conduct thorough inspections of instruments for cleanliness and functionality before sterilization. Manage inventory of sterile supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage conditions. Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, including monitoring sterilizer cycles and documenting results. Collaborate with surgical teams to understand their needs for specific instruments and supplies. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control practices to minimize risks to patients and staff. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices in sterile processing. Requirements Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology is essential for understanding the use of various instruments. Experience or training in sterile processing techniques is preferred, including familiarity with aseptic techniques. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory effectively. Attention to detail is critical to ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is a plus but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is required.
