We currently have an excellent opportunity available in the Chicago, IL, area for a full-time, seasonal Biological Technician. This position will begin in May and ideally extend through September. However, we will consider candidates who can only work between their spring and fall semesters. What you will do: The Biological Technician will be responsible for a combination of field and lab work. Specific duties include: Assisting senior staff with entrainment (collection of larval fish), water quality, and sediment field sampling programs in the Midwest. Processing of larval fish samples in the laboratory. Entry of biological data and water quality data into Excel spreadsheets or Access databases. Note: This work includes travel throughout the Midwest region. What you will need: A high school diploma or GED; it is preferred that applicant is pursuing or has obtained a BS degree. A valid driver’s license. The ability to collect and tabulate biological and physiochemical data and maintain records. A strong work ethic that includes taking initiative and being efficient, dependable, and punctual. Willingness to travel throughout the state and Midwest, working flexible hours in the field with night and weekend hours required occasionally. The ability to work in a team environment. The anticipated salary range for this position is $18 to $20 an hour.
