As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacy team and delivering a distinctive, delightful customer experience. Working under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you assist in the practice of pharmacy while ensuring strict adherence to state, federal, and company regulations. Your presence helps maintain a clean, orderly, and efficient pharmacy environment where patients feel supported and valued.
Your day involves a blend of technical precision and warm customer engagement. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure all data is entered correctly. This includes retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medication accuracy, and checking for possible interactions. When PTCB certified, you may also coach other technicians and cashiers on system operations.
Customer interaction is central to your role. You will greet patients, offer assistance with products and services, and resolve issues to ensure a positive experience. You are expected to model best practices in interpersonal habits, such as offering help proactively and servicing customers until they are satisfied. Additionally, you may handle telephone calls that do not require a pharmacist's personal attention, process manual claims for third-party programs, and assist with inventory management activities like ordering and storing shipments.
We are committed to your professional growth. You will have the opportunity to earn and maintain PTCB certification through designated training programs or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, PTCB certification is required. You will also attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.

Six months of experience in a retail environment. Prior work experience with Walgreens. Good math skills for filling prescriptions accurately (counting, measuring, weighing). Good computer skills. Knowledge of store inventory control. PTCB certification.
