As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. You will assist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, adhering to all state, federal, and company policies. Your work is essential to maintaining the safety and accuracy of prescription dispensing while delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
You will be the face of the pharmacy, engaging with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. A key part of your mission is to resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience. You will model and share customer service best practices with the team, demonstrating interpersonal habits such as courtesy, eye contact, and proactive help. By developing strong relationships with our most valuable customers, you help foster a welcoming environment where patients feel supported from start to finish.
Under the supervision of the pharmacist, pharmacy manager, and store manager, you will perform a variety of duties including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information accurately. You will assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, while verifying medicine correctness and checking for possible interactions. If you are PTCB certified, you will also have the opportunity to coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations.
Your responsibilities extend to inventory management, where you will assist with ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals. You will also handle clerical duties such as processing manual claims for third-party prescription services and managing cash registers. Additionally, you may assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting and labeling blood or urine samples, and supporting the coordination of clinical services with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
We are committed to your professional growth. You will be encouraged to earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to a senior technician role, PTCB certification is required. You will also attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
