As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring a distinctive, delightful customer experience for every patient. You will work under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists to assist in the practice of pharmacy, adhering to all state, federal, and company policies. Your presence helps maintain the efficiency and accuracy of the pharmacy department while fostering strong relationships with the local medical community and our most valuable customers.
Your day involves a blend of clinical support, operational precision, and exceptional service. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure all data is entered correctly. This includes retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, as well as verifying medicine accuracy and checking for possible interactions. When PTCB certified, you will also have the opportunity to coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations.
Customer interaction is central to your role. You will greet patients, offer assistance with products and services, and resolve issues to ensure a positive experience. You may assist patients in locating over-the-counter products, handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, and process manual claims for third-party prescription services. Additionally, you may support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments, and assist with clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood or urine samples.
We are committed to your professional growth. You will be encouraged to earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, PTCB certification is required. You will also attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
