The City of Grand Rapids is currently exploring the development and operation of a municipal cannabis dispensary. As planning efforts continue, including facility design, operational logistics, regulatory compliance, and business planning, we have identified the need for specialized expertise to support these efforts.
This role is an opportunity to manage a municipal cannabis dispensary. The position is anticipated to transition from a planning and implementation role into ongoing management of dispensary operations upon opening. During the planning phase, you will contribute directly to key decisions regarding dispensary operations, workflow development, inventory controls, security protocols, staffing models, licensing compliance, vendor relationships, and customer service expectations. Once operational, you will oversee day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, financial performance, staffing, inventory management, and strategic planning to support successful and sustainable dispensary operations.

Seed-to-sale familiarity. Prior experience managing a cannabis dispensary or working in a regulated cannabis environment. Experience with staff development programs and creating SOPs. Knowledge of medical cannabis patient needs and experience working with patient-care protocols. Basic budgeting and experience with sales reporting. Community engagement or public outreach experience. Certifications in first aid/CPR, conflict de-escalation, or loss-prevention training. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
