The Call Center Representative (Switchboard) serves as a frontline resource for patients, staff, and physicians within the University of Kansas Health System and Medical Center. Located on the main campus, this position operates within a 24/7/365 environment, providing professional customer service to all internal and external callers.
In this role, you will manage the operations of the Switchboard call center, acting as the central hub for communication. Your day involves triaging incoming calls to determine needs, managing caller expectations, and utilizing specialized software systems like Genesis, Communicator, OnCall, and Epic. Beyond standard call handling, you will provide answering services for clinical and administrative departments, manage code and personal pager programming after hours, and activate medical and security code teams as needed.
